Lo and behold; the album cover for ”The Wild Hunt”

Executed in oil and mixed materials, this still life was painted by Zbigniew M. Bielak, the very same artist who was responsible for the artwork of Lawless Darkness.
The image peers into the inmost shrine of Watain’s temple where, as on a classical stilleben, each object has a significant meaning, while each song of the album is also connected to an object.

On the 24th of August, Watain will conduct the grand opening of ”The Wild Hunt” world tour in their hometown Uppsala. For those who want to see Watain’s infamous live ceremony taken to a new level; this is your chance.
”The plan is to make this concert everything we have ever wanted our concerts to be. In a touring scenario it is impossible to drag along all the horrors and infernal machinery we need for that, but performing in our hometown allows for a much more grandiose and spectacular stage show and performance. Mark our words, this will be one to remember!”
The venue chosen for this night of unchained metal magic is Svandammshallarna, located in the heart of the city. Tickets will be released on Friday the 7th of June.

The first single for ”The Wild Hunt” will be released on Summer Solstice, June 21st.

The name of the single will be ”ALL THAT MAY BLEED”.

 ”All that May Bleed shows but one facet of a quite diverse album, but we chose this song as a first glimpse into ”The Wild Hunt” because of its bombastic lunacy and white-eyed malevolence which could be said to constitute a main foundation for the album. The lyric is an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!”

Side B will be a track called ”Play with the Devil” originally recorded by the Black/Heavy Metal band Taiwaz in 1988, in Uppsala. Gottfrid Åhman from In Solitude participates on solo guitar in Watain’s version.

After 120 nights of iron will and ardent magic, the fifth fullength album of Watain is now complete. With broken bones and burning hearts we have ploughed our way through deepest winter into a new wilderness, to which we will open the gates at summers end. THE WILD HUNT will be released on August 19th in Europe and August 20th in USA. Beware!

Since the harvest, Watain have been occupied with preparations for a long and hard journey. Seeds have been sown, blades have been sharpened and new fires have been lit to illuminate the untrodden tunnels that lay before us as we descend further down the maze…
And so it was that on the 3rd of January, 3 years on the day since the recording of Lawless Darkness did commence, Watain returned to Necromorbus Studio and begun working on what is to become the 5th fullength album.

THE CURRENT STATE OF THINGS

Watain are now fully occupied with the twisting and tearing and shaping of things to come. Although we may have seemed silent as of late, there has been activity of infernal meassures taking place… What will come of all this is yet too early to speak of, all we can say is that its proportions shall be immense.

There has also been changes in most of the various departments connected to Watain; new label, new web store, new booking agents, new management and new publishing company. All of this to make the impact of what lies ahead as swift and severe as possible.

And meanwhile, deep down in the black slime of this earth, things older than time coil in eager restlessness. Through the thin layers of time and space the fumes from their many nostrils rise to intoxicate the blessed with visions of wonder and nameless horror that owes nothing to creation as it is known to man. From those fumes we must now draw our breaths, and into those deeps must we now again plunge.

All we ask from you, our fans and followers, is continued patience and support. We are preparing for war again, in the heavens and so alike on earth. Be prepared. Be aware.
